💰️ Star Casino struggles
Star Casino’s financial woes have cast doubt on the future of Brisbane’s newly opened Queen’s Wharf entertainment precinct, where Star is a major backer. The $3.8 billion development has already seen significant cost overruns, putting Star’s shaky prospects under even more pressure. With one of Brisbane’s most ambitious tourism projects now in jeopardy, calls for government intervention continue to grow.
⛰️ The Hills, Rivermakers now open
Brisbane’s newest tourist attraction has just opened along the river in Morningside: The Hills. Equal parts adult playground and family-friendly destination, it offers a wide variety of restaurants and bars you can explore while enjoying a drink in hand. With events like petting zoos and live music, there’s something to delight every member of the family.
🏡 Regional rents rise to Brisbane prices
Regional Queensland rent prices have now matched Brisbane’s rates, with the median advertised rent sitting at $630 across both the city and regional areas. In 2024, Brisbane’s rents rose by $30 (a 5% increase), while regional Queensland saw steeper climbs—house rents increased by 8.6% and unit rents surged by 13.2% over the year.
